What is Wheel Bite?

When choosing larger wheels (55mm or larger), be careful of wheel bite. Wheel bite is a phenomenon in which the wheel size is too large for the height of the trucks, and the wheel comes into contact with the deck when making a sharp turn, causing sudden braking. Wheel bite is more likely to occur when a heavier rider is riding. A setup that causes wheel bite is not safe. It is recommended to use riser pads to increase the distance between the wheels and the deck in order to adjust the height of the deck, wheels, and trucks. Other good countermeasures include using smaller wheels and changing the trucks.
